Windows helper 1.0

Download FlightSimTrackerHelper.zip

Version 1.0.0.11 · 1.8 MB · Windows 10 and 11 · MSFS 2020 and 2024

This is the version that works with the iPhone app currently on the App Store. If you have FS Tracker installed on your phone, download this one.
  1. Download the file, right-click it and use Extract All to unpack it into a folder.
  2. Run FsTracker-Desktop.exe from that folder. Do not move the files out of it; the app needs the SimConnect folder next to it.
  3. Sign in with your FS Tracker account and start the simulator.

FS Tracker 2.0 — the new app

Download FsTracker-Setup-2.0.1.exe

Version 2.0.1 · 2.3 MB · Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) · MSFS 2020 and 2024

The matching mobile app is not in the store yet. This version records your flights to the new server; the phone apps are being built. If you are following FS Tracker from your phone today, stay on the 1.0 package above.

What's new

Installing

  1. Download the file and run it. No administrator rights are needed; it installs into your own user folder.
  2. Sign in with your FS Tracker account. If you registered with Apple or Google you have no password — get a pairing code from the phone app and enter that instead.
  3. Start the simulator. The app shows the connection in its status bar.

On first run Windows will show a “Windows protected your PC” warning — this is expected. What it means and what to do is below.

Requirements

If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”

We see this warning too, and it is expected. But do not get into the habit of clicking through every warning — that habit will one day pay off for a genuinely malicious file. Below you will find how to prove the file really is the one we published, and only then how to get past the warning. The order matters.

Why does it appear?

There are two reasons, and neither of them means “a virus was found”:

So the warning is not saying “this file is harmful”; it is saying “I do not recognise this file yet”. The verification below is how you close that gap.

1. First, prove the file is the right one

Every package has an unchanging fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash). If the hash of your download matches ours, the file was not altered on the way. In your downloads folder press Shift + right-click → Open in Terminal and paste this exactly:

(Get-FileHash .\FsTracker-Setup-2.0.1.exe).Hash -eq '7bc2b6bbd33be5cbd4de1ef3a6fdb91e2425a0afa5640c4fcde3c7161288b76b'

If it prints True, the file is bit-for-bit the one we published and you can continue.

If it prints False, do not run the file. Delete it, download it again, and if it still does not match, write to us. Clicking through the warning would be genuinely dangerous in that case.

We also publish the hash in this file. To compare it by hand: Get-FileHash .\FsTracker-Setup-2.0.1.exe

2. Then get past the warning

  1. If your browser blocks the download: in the downloads list, open the … menu next to the file and choose Keep or Download anyway.
  2. In the blue “Windows protected your PC” dialog: click the More info link.
  3. Check that the app name shown is FsTracker-Setup-2.0.1.exe, then press Run anyway.
  4. The installer does not need administrator rights. You should not see a “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?” prompt — if you do, you are running the wrong file.

When will this stop?

When we obtain a code signing certificate. The dialog will then show our name instead of “Unknown publisher”, and new versions will no longer have to earn their reputation from scratch. That process is under way; until it is done, the verification above is the strongest assurance.
